Cascina Radice Poiana Barolo
Beschreibung
From the area of Serralunga d'Alba Province of Cuneo Piedmont, the vineyard has a small production of 30,000 bottles. Harvested mid October. Fermentation, traditional peel maceration of 12 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature 28 degrees - then 36 months aging in oak barrels, followed by a further 6 months in the bottle.
This Barolo is deep red with garnet reflections. A complex bouquet of violet, vanilla and chocolate. Full bodied, dry and juicy on the palate with excellent balance of tannins and acidity, providing excellent structure. A wonderful array of flavours that layer in this complex wine. Try with venison, game, mushroom/truffle dishes.
Roberto and Andreas Mazzei took on Cascina Radice winery in the 90s. The property dates back to the 1890s and is surrounded by the hilly countryside in the small town of Moasca. The pair have worked tirelessly to modernise production without compromising on the passion and care required to maintain the vineyards.
