As the wine that was the inspiration for Turton Wines' founding, Georgian wine continues to have unrivalled breadth. Widely acknowledged as the origin of wine as we know it, Georgia began production over 8,000 years ago and has sites of ancient winemaking with protected status from UNESCO. Famed for their ancient Qvevri winemaking method and the ability to not only produce superb red, white and orange dry wines, but superb and quintessentially Georgian semi-sweet wines of all types.
This Semi-sweet orange wine is made from the Kisi grape cultivated in the Kakheti region of Georgia. Fermentation was undergoing with skin contact in a Quevri for 3 months. Amber in colour with aromas of peach and honey on the nose. Caramelised apple and camomile tea are present on the palate with a lovely acidity and perfectly balanced sweetness. Try with grilled meats, roasted vegetables or a cheeseboard.
Gurjaani winery is focused only on high quality red and white wine, produced with the latest technology but also using traditional Georgian methods. The winery processes only the best grapes, harvested in the best micro-zones, and it is this essential factor that makes their wines beautiful and magnificent.
Many Georgian wines source grapes from small family vineyards, so ingrained in culture that they are a strong part of family heritage. There are several wine regions that hold 18 Specific Viticultural Areas held in high regard, with careful monitoring and low yields.
