Kayra Buzbag Reserve
Beschreibung
'Buzbağ' means Ice Vineyard and takes its name from the ice caves of Harput, a historic city in Eastern Anatolia. The Öküzgözü and Boğazkere grapes for this wine are grown in Elazığ, Eastern Anatolia and Diyarbakır, south eastern Anatolia. The vineyards sit at an altitude of 900m above sea level and are made up of red stony and clay soils.
The Öküzgözü and the Boğazkere grapes were fermented separately. The grapes were cool macerated for 48 hours before being fermented in stainless steel tanks over a period of 10 days. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 20 months comprising 20% new oak, of which 18% was American and 2% was French oak. The remaining 80% was neutral oak.
Öküzgözü and Boğazkere complement one another beautifully truly reflecting the nature of Eastern Anatolia. A bold, concentrated wine with lashings of ripe cherries and dried plums, enhanced by notes of toasted bread and cedar. The palate is powerful displaying intense fruit flavours framed by structured tannins and a long, full finish. Try with barbecued or grilled red meats (particularly lamb kebabs), mushrooms or aubergine, or mature cheeses.
