Beschreibung
Soils in San Patricio de Chañar are sandy and gravely. All vines are fed water from the Andes mountain snowmelt. Grapes are picked manually before 15% of the harvest are gently pressed and macerated as whole bunches while the rest are destemmed. Juice is fermented under controlled temperatures using indigenous yeasts and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural characteristics of the grape.
Aromas of black cherry, raspberry and redcurrants on the nose with a faint hint of cocoa in the background. These notes follow onto the palate with a good acidity and balance. Try with roast lamb, wild rice, mushroom dishes, burgers or blue cheese.
Secreto Patagónico was born in 2003, when Carlos and Cristina Groppo Parisi planted the first grapevines in the town of San Patricio del Chañar, an unexplored and promising region in Patagonia, Argentina. The winery is now run by the second generation: Tomás, an engineer, and Sofía, with her degree in business administration, bring together their enthusiasm and passion for wine, and for Patagonia. The family estate stretches 61 hectares with a 300,000 litre cellar. The vineyards itself experience low annual rainfall and frequent and intense winds; forcing the grapes to develop thick skins and establish deep set roots, characterising its wines robust structure.
