Rising River Merlot

The fruit is harvested from selected vineyards across the Western Cape. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel with daily punching down for maximum extraction of colour and tannins. The wine is matured in old French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.

Aromas of black plum, redcurrant and blackberry on the nose. These rich fruit aromas follow onto the palate along with a hint of spice. The sweetness of the ripe fruit is balance by the soft smooth tannins. Try with hearty stews or comforting pies.

The Rising River Wines are inspired by the Franschhoek River that flows through the Franschhoek Valley, encompassing the grand history of its surroundings and celebrating grapes sourced across quality vineyards across the Western Cape. Produced as a diffusion line to the principle Rickety Bridge range, winemaking is overseen by Mari Kotzé.
