Two Rivers Clos des Pierres Chardonnay
Beschreibung
This Chardonnay from Two Rivers gets its name from the French, Clos des Pierres, which means place of stones and gives reference to The Spring Vineyard which has extremely stony soils. The grapes were lightly pressed and the juice naturally fermented. The wine was then aged for 8 months in a mixture of French oak barriques and cuves. Full malolactic fermentation occurred.
Bright lemon in colour, with aromas of toasted almonds, ripe citrus, and a touch of sea spray. On the palate the wine is bright and focused, opening up layers of stone fruit and lemon curd, over toasted oak and vanilla bean. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a classic and elegantly textured chardonnay, with beautiful balance, and a long, pure finish. Try with white fish, hard cheese or smoked cheese.
Two Rivers aim to harness Marlborough’s intense fruit flavours in elegant wines with a sense of place. Their grapes benefit from the clay soils of their Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys, together with several key sites across two main valleys. They use a variety of winemaking techniques including natural fermentation, concrete egg tanks, large oak cuves, an assortment of French oak barrels and clay amphoras, as well as bottling wine unfined and unfiltered to retain complexity and texture.
